The UGLC provides a specialized doctoral training in lung medicine at the International Graduate Program "Molecular Biology and Medicine of the Lung" (MBML). As a biomedical MD/PhD training program the MBML promotes scientific excellence. Selected international students are supported by a fellowship. They engage in cutting edge research projects investigating the physiology and pathobiology of the lung over a period of 3 years.

The MBML is the proud host of the first biomedical graduate program in transatlantic cooperation in Germany: The International Graduate Program 1062 "Signalling Mechanisms in Lung Physiology and Disease" funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) is a cooperation with influential pulmonary research centers at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Albert-Einstein College of Medicine, both situated New York, USA.
